Raphael Plunkett honored during Black History Month

Lisa Calderon Assemblymember, 56th District, honors TRI Co Dem Club’s Raphael Plunkett during Black History Month

Raphael H. Plunkett is a community leader, advocate, and longtime volunteer serving as 2nd Vice President of the Diamond Bar Woman’s Club, City Commissioner, and Friends of the Library board member.

A dedicated literacy and civic engagement volunteer for over 40 years, she has worked internationally, recently reading to students in Kenya and Japan.

She is recognized for her advocacy in reparations and equity through CJEC and LEAP, earning multiple awards, including two Diamond Bar Volunteer of the Year honors. A lifelong learner, she holds a BA from the University of La Verne and certifications in public policy and mindfulness.

"Curing" Election Ballots for Derek Tran

Miriam and Karen cure ballots to try to pull Derek Tran over the finish line! Curing refers to a method by which ballots that were not initially counted due to missing signatures or other technical issue are subsequently verified. Tran was ahead of opponent Michelle Steel by 314 votes as of Nov. 19, acccording to the Los Angeles County Registrar of Voters.

TRI Counties past President Emerita, Peggye Jackson, opens the 9th Annual Awards Luncheon, June 22. Jackson founded TRI Counties Democratic Club after seeing little political action or attention by the Democratic Party in the Diamond Bar/Walnut/Rowland Heights/Chino Hills and surrounding communities.

Mark Ramos, Chairman of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party Central Committee, addresses the June 22 9th Annual Awards Luncheon.  His message called for ‘all hands on deck” for the challenges of the 2024 General Election.

Diamond Bar Council Members Honored

TRI Counties Democratic Club 1st Vice President, Rachel Kirk, participated in the DNC Latina Conversation hosted by DNC Chair Jaime Harrison and Biden-Harris Campaign Manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez on September 26 in Simi Valley.

Members of the TRI Counties Democratic Club attended the City Council meeting on December 5th in Diamond Bar to pay tribute to both outgoing Mayor Andrew Chou and incoming Mayor Stan Liu. A momentous occasion ensued as Councilmember Dr. Chia Teng assumed the position of our new Mayor Pro Tem.

In her unofficial capacity, Cindy serves as Region 7 Vice Chair and Assembly District 56 Chair to the Los Angeles County Democratic Party and also as Region 15 Director to the CA Democratic Party.

Alberto Ruiz is the Communications Director for Assemblywoman Lisa Calderon. Ruiz was a welcome addition to TRI Counties most recent membership meeting held on Nov. 11.

TRI Co Participates in Successful Voter Registration Drive at Mt. SAC

A very successful Voter Registration Drive was held at Mt. San Antonio College on November 14th. We registered 24 new voters. TRI Counties Democratic Club volunteers were Rachel Kirk, Diana Hernandez, Earl and Violeta Saunders, Amer Holmes, Phyllis Soto, Geri Renswick, and Katina Vlastos from Swing Left Inland Valley.  Watch for an announcement about our next Voter Registration Drive.
